Lehner Lifttechnik GmbH aims to enable people with limited mobility to live a barrier-free life in their own homes and in public spaces.
We are an export-oriented and fast-growing family business based in Neukirchen am Walde, Austria.
For more than 30 years, we have been involved in the development and distribution of high-quality mobility products. Our extensive product range includes state-of-the-art platform and chair stairlifts, versatile vertical platform lifts, various stair climbers, and a special solution for swimming pools.
Our sales team supports a network of partner companies that professionally install and maintain our custom-made stairlifts and lifting platforms on site. Together, we have set the goal of continuously optimizing the quality and affordability of our lifts to make life easier for as many people as possible.

Our History
1987
Company founder Max Lehner recognised that self-propelled stair climbers for wheelchair users represented a global market niche. He further developed an existing model so that it could be operated independently – and the STAIRMAX was invented.
1988
At the request of stair-climber manufacturer Sunwa, Max traveled to Japan to present his product, "Stairmax." Sunwa was enthusiastic about Max's development and began distributing it worldwide.
1991
At the beginning of the year, Max Lehner founded Lehner Lifttechnik GmbH. To protect his invention, he applied for a patent for the self-propelled stair climber ‘Stairmax’ in the same year.
1992
At the Medical Fair Brno, Max Lehner met the young aircraft engineer Antonin Machala. They hit it off immediately, as they shared a common interest in mobility products.
1993
The long-term collaboration between Lehner Lifttechnik and Altech began. Antonin Machala started producing the Stairmax on his parents' farm.
1994
The business partners began refurbishing used platform lifts and selling them together with individually designed and manufactured rails. This increased their desire to develop their own lift.
1995
After almost two years of development, the Omega model was ready for series production. What made it special was that a single motor powered all of the platform's mechanical functions. The idea for this came from the corn-binding machines Max remembered from his childhood.
1996
The vertical lift ‘Liftboy’ is the next model to be introduced. Due to rising production figures, new company premises are purchased and production is relocated there.
1998
Cooperation with partners throughout Europe began – the first model of the Omega stairlift outside Austria was installed in Spain. The Delphin pool lift expanded the product range.
2004
Lehner Lifttechnik – previously run by Max Lehner from his home – acquired its current premises in Neukirchen am Walde.
2005
Christian and Hannes Lehner joined the company. Since then, they have been working on the further development of the company and the partnership with Altech. Another milestone: the installation of the 1000th system.
2006-2012
With the development of further lift models such as ‘Alpin’ and ‘Delta’ and the optimisation of existing lift systems, strong growth began. Lehner Lifttechnik established itself worldwide in the industry.
2014
After two years of development, the Alpha stairlift seat was launched and quickly became a bestseller. The company had successfully become a full-service provider.
2016
The launch of the Stratos – a further development of the successful Delta – was a resounding success. Its excellent price-performance ratio and easy installation won over the market.
2017-2020
Many developments took place: more than 15 upgrades to the Alpha, introduction of the Liftboy 3, expansion of office space, construction of a warehouse, and sales of over €25 million.
2021
In 2021, Lehner Lifttechnik reached another milestone with 30,000 exported systems. We now supply over 350 dealers in more than 65 countries around the world.
2022
In 2022, we launched sales of our new Sigma platform lift. At the end of the year, our sales team celebrated another milestone: 40.000 lifts installed.
